About The Position

The Food Service Director is responsible for overseeing the dietary department in a skilled nursing facility, ensuring that quality nutritional services are provided daily. This role involves planning, organizing, and directing the overall operation of the dietary services in collaboration with registered dieticians, while adhering to federal, state, and local regulations. The director will manage menus, budgets, staffing, and ensure compliance with health and safety standards.

Requirements

• Must have a valid Driver's License.
• Must have a valid ServSafe certification or equivalent.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Prior experience in a skilled nursing facility or long-term care setting is required.
• Excellent organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills are necessary.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
• Proficiency in technology and standard kitchen equipment is required.
• Ability to prepare and serve nutritionally balanced meals.

• Experience in menu development and dietary planning.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, develop, and direct the overall operation of the dietary department.
• Collaborate with registered dieticians to ensure quality nutritional services.

• Maintain the budget for the dietary department, including labor and food costs.
• Order food supplies and dietary-related equipment as needed.
• Inspect supplies upon receipt for quality and accuracy.
• Conduct dietary assessments for new residents and update dietary plans as necessary.
• Supervise and train dietary personnel, ensuring compliance with health standards.
• Ensure food is prepared, served, and stored according to regulations.
• Evaluate dining processes and resident satisfaction during meal service.
