About The Position

Flexicrew Technical Services (FTS) is seeking a Food Service Cook. Job Summary: The Food Service Cook works directly under the supervision of the Cafe Manager and is responsible for preparing menu items, ensuring cleanliness, and maintaining safety and sanitation standards in the kitchen. The Cook will play a key role in the kitchen team, working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment to deliver high-quality food and maintain a clean and organized workstation.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED preferred.
  • Culinary school diploma preferred.
  • Proven experience as a cook.
  • Knowledge of various cooking methods (grilling, baking, boiling, etc.).
  • Ability to follow sanitation procedures and possess a valid food handler's permit.
  • Proficiency in computer usage.
  • Ability to count money and operate a cash register.
  • Knowledge of health regulations related to food preparation and service.
  • Excellent cooking skills and ability to prepare a variety of food.
  • First Aid/CPR certification preferred.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Prepares and cooks meats, vegetables, breads, pastries, and other foods.
  • Helps lead and inspire kitchen staff in collaboration with the Cafe Manager.
  • Prepares specialty and modified foods as required.
  • Ensures work areas are clean and sanitary, cleaning grills, stoves, cooking vats, and serving utensils.
  • May supervise the work of Food Service I & II staff.
  • Sets up food service, kitchen, or salad areas according to detailed instructions.
  • Checks food temperatures and prepares areas for daily operations.
  • Operates cooking or bakery equipment as assigned.
  • Conveys food and supplies from kitchen or bakery to serving sites as needed.
  • Follows prescribed procedures in setting up hot and cold food lines, ensuring proper temperatures for menu items.
  • Prepares and assists with hot and cold dishes, including meats, vegetables, beverages, salads, sandwiches, and simple bakery items.
  • Serves food to customers, ensuring proper portion sizes and garnishing according to instructions.
  • Replenishes food and supplies at serving stations, including condiments.
  • Attends to day-to-day issues regarding equipment, food supplies, or defective conditions.
  • Cleans and maintains work areas, including floors, utensils, and equipment.
  • May perform cashier duties as required.
  • Provides guidance and training to other kitchen employees.
  • Maintains excellent customer service and a positive attitude toward guests and co-workers.
  • Ensures proper storage of food and adheres to food safety policies and procedures.
  • Prepares food according to standardized recipes, ensuring consistency.
  • Replenishes food items and ensures products are stocked at appropriate levels.
  • Follows safety, hygiene, and service standards and procedures.
  • Attends annual safety training and other required educational programs.
  • Participates in the annual Discovery Day event.
