HOW YOU WILL IMPACT OUR MISSION The Food Service Clerk performs all job assignments with a positive attitude that supports San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance's mission and vision of saving species worldwide by uniting our expertise in wildlife care and conservation science with our dedication to inspiring passion for nature and leading the fight against extinction. The Food Service Clerk under supervision, prepares, serves and sells food items while providing outstanding guest service. This position reports to the Retail Management. A Food Service Clerk is assigned and responsible for one or more areas of food preparation, service, sales and maintenance.

Requirements

The San Diego Zoo Safari Park Retail Operations team is seeking candidates with top-notch interpersonal skills to provide a world-class guest experience.
Candidates with problem solving skills to identify practical solutions and teamwork skills to work well with others are highly desirable.
Applicants must be at least 18 years old to be considered for the position with open availability.
Please note if you are selected for this role, you will be required to complete the Responsible Beverage Service Training (RBS) within 60 days of your hire date.
Training will be provided to you by the San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance and completed on site.
RBS Certification within 30 Days required.
Food Handler's Card within 30 Days required.

Knowledge of: Basic usage and care of standard kitchen equipment and utensils

Ability to: Operate food service equipment and machines safely

Responsibilities

Prepares and sells food items
Maintains a safe and sanitary work area, practices safe food handling procedures
Operates point of sale system, handles and tenders a variety of sales transactions including cash, proactive to suggestive selling
Provides outstanding guest service, greets guests, professionally handles difficult situations with employees or guests
Assists with the daily set-up, closure, and cleaning of assigned location, stocks all necessary food items and supplies, assists with ordering
Operates food service equipment and machines safely
Ability to learn wide variety of tasks in a fast-paced environment
