About The Position

The Food Service Clerk at Fresh Thyme Farmers Market is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and organization in food service areas, assisting customers, and ensuring product quality and presentation. Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalency degree.
• Preferred 1-2 years grocery retail experience in Food Service processes and procedures.
• Previous experience in a natural foods industry is a plus.
• Must maintain the highest level of customer service at all times.
• Ability to adapt to a high volume retail environment and work in a cross-functional team.
• Flexibility to adapt in various situations and take initiative when problems arise.
• Advanced attention to detail with the capability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
• Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to multitask and possess excellent organizational skills.
• Familiarity with Health Department guidelines and regulations in grocery retail.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in a natural foods industry.
• Knowledge of food service equipment such as slicers and ovens.

Responsibilities

• Ensures cleanliness of food service cases, storage area, and work area for safety.
• Stocks food service cases, ensuring product presentation, facing, filling, and organization as per department schematics.
• Examines the rotation of food service products, discarding outdated or spoiled items.
• Responds positively to customer inquiries and assists with purchases and product selection.
• Receives, inspects, and logs products for accuracy of shipment, temperature, and quality.
• Monitors point of purchase signs and ensures availability of promotional materials.
• Operates food service equipment such as knives, scales, and pallet jacks.
• Prepares various food service items using appropriate ingredients and cooking times.
• Participates in pre-inventory preparation and ensures tags match products.
• Maintains a high level of product knowledge and preparation.
