Good Samaritan Indianola, a large non-profit provider of senior services, is seeking a compassionate, trustworthy, and dependable Food Service Assistant. The organization is under new management and aims to foster a culture of clear goals, free idea sharing, high trust, and a sense of family and respect. The Food Service Assistant's responsibilities include monitoring food temperatures, setting up and maintaining clean serving areas, preparing and serving food, restocking, cleaning and sanitizing equipment, and processing payments using a computerized register.

Requirements

Minimum of 16 years of age
Ability to read, write and follow oral and written directions
Ability to perform basic math
Serv Safe may be required to obtain within a designated time frame (depending upon location of hire)
Basic Life Support (BLS) may be required depending upon location requirements

Nice To Haves

Previous customer service experience
Retail counting and reconciliation of money
Knowledge of food service
Experience working in the food industry
Ability to work independently when necessary
Understanding of food safety and sanitation processes

Responsibilities

Monitor and record proper temperature of food
Set up and maintain a clean and sanitized serving area
Prepare and serve food items
Restock food areas
Clean and sanitize equipment
Receive payment for food and beverages using a computerized register
Comply with Hazardous Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) guidelines for food service
Provide outstanding customer service and effectively communicate with patrons and co-workers
Demonstrate ability to establish effective working relationships
Maintain quality control standards
May operate equipment such as grills, beverage machines, toasters, ice cream dispensers, cash registers, computerized cash registers, steam equipment, dishwashers, telephones, refrigerators and freezers
