About The Position

This temporary position is located in 517 West Fleming Drive - Burke County with the NC School for the Deaf. Job Order Hourly Rate of Pay: $15.00 (Based on education and/or years of relevant work experience reflected on the application). Effective July 1, 2025, candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they have the minimum education and experience listed from the class specification. Requirements

  • Education and/or experience in food service that is directly related to the job and consistent with accepted practices of the trade.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of food items, including salads, sandwiches, and desserts, according to established recipes and safety standards.
  • Serve food and beverages to customers, ensuring that portion sizes comply with food service guidelines.
  • Accurately operate food service equipment, such as ovens, grills, and dishwashers.
  • Greet customers warmly and assist them in their food selections, providing recommendations when necessary.
  • Address customer inquiries and complaints in a courteous manner, ensuring a positive dining experience.
  • Maintain a friendly and professional demeanor at all times.
  • Ensure that all dining and kitchen areas are kept clean and tidy throughout the service period.
  • Wash utensils, plates, and kitchen equipment to maintain health and safety regulations.
  • Restock supplies as needed, including condiments, napkins, and utensils.
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including food safety practices such as handwashing and proper food storage.
  • Report any safety or cleanliness issues to the supervisor promptly.
  • Work closely with kitchen staff and other cafeteria personnel to ensure smooth operations during service hours.
  • Assist in the setup and breakdown of food service areas before and after meal periods.
