About The Position

ChristianaCare is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Service Assistant III to serve as a Host/Hostess in our Emergency Department. This unique role is designed to enhance the patient and visitor experience by providing warm, welcoming, and attentive food service support in a fast-paced healthcare environment. Location: Christiana Hospital – Newark, DE Schedule: Part-Time (40 hours biweekly) Shifts: Rotating – 7:30 AM–4:00 PM and 11:30 AM–8:00 PM; requires working every other weekend and holiday rotation. Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Comfortable using technology (iPad) for menu collection.
Nice To Haves
- Previous food service experience preferred.
- ServSafe certification is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Serve meals and snacks to patients in accordance with dietary guidelines.
- Collect and process patient menu selections using iPad technology.
- Collaborate with nursing staff to ensure accurate diet orders.
- Provide outstanding customer service and practice service recovery.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of pantry and service areas.
- Monitor patient satisfaction and communicate feedback to the nutrition team.
- Rotate between morning and evening shifts to support 24/7 patient care.
