About The Position

We are seeking a Food Service Assistant I to join our Food & Nutrition team at the West End Cafeteria. This position plays a key role in providing excellent service to our customers and maintaining high standards of sanitation and food safety. Location: West End Cafeteria (Christiana Hospital - Newark Campus) Schedule: Primarily 11:15 AM – 7:45 PM (Other possible shifts include hours between 5:30 AM and 8:00 PM) Rotation: Every other weekend and holiday rotation

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Ability to read, write, and follow instructions.
• Physical ability to lift up to 30 lbs and perform tasks such as standing, walking, bending, and reaching.
• Commitment to safe work practices and compliance with health regulations.

Responsibilities

• Serve hot food to cafeteria customers in a friendly and efficient manner.
• Assist with food preparation and stocking food items as needed.
• Clean pots, pans, and utensils following proper sanitation procedures.
• Operate dishwashing and pot-washing equipment safely and effectively.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, including timely trash removal.
• Follow infection prevention and safety protocols, including proper use of chemicals and protective gear.
