About The Position

Requirements

• Ability to speak, read, understand, and follow oral and written instructions in English.
• Experience with modified diet menus is preferred.
• One year of experience in a commercial and/or institutional kitchen is preferred.
• High School diploma or GED equivalent is required.
• Ability to perform moderate physical labor, including walking long distances and occasional lifting of objects weighing 10 to 35 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve food from all stations throughout the Nutrition Services Department.
• Check patient trays and snacks for proper food items, correct portion size, consistency, and preferences.
• Deliver meals and snacks to different units throughout the hospital, including wards and dining rooms.
• Ensure the safety of foods served.
• Maintain knowledge of modified diets, posted menus, and portion sizes.
• Prepare meals and snacks accurately, attractively, and on time.
• Interpret diet orders and translate them into modified diet menus and portions.
• Clean, dry, and sanitize all pots, pans, and cooking utensils properly.
• Empty cardboard and trash receptacles and clean work areas as necessary.
• Maintain cleanliness of all floors in the department, including sweeping and mopping.
