About The Position

The Food Service Administrator (FSA) will assist the Food Service Director in managing the daily operations of food services at the State Veterans' Nursing Home in Orlando, Florida. This role involves overseeing food preparation, ensuring sanitary conditions, managing staff, and maintaining kitchen inventory. The FSA will also be responsible for training staff and ensuring compliance with safety and health regulations.

Requirements

• At least one year of verifiable cooking experience in a commercial or cafeteria-style setting.
• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work weekends and holidays as required.
• Ability to work 10-hour shifts.
• Effective leadership skills.

Nice To Haves

• Experience preparing food in a skilled care facility or long-term care facility.
• Experience in a supervisory or leadership role.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Food Service Director in day-to-day food services operations.
• Share responsibility for staffing oversight and ensure clean and sanitary conditions in food preparation areas.
• Assist with purchase requests and food production services in compliance with VA, state, and federal regulations.
• Train staff in food preparation, storage, and personal hygiene practices.
• Verify compliance with state and facility safety procedures in food production and equipment maintenance.
• Maintain and control kitchen inventory, checking quantities available and needed for operation.
• Consult with the Consultant Dietician and Food Service Director regarding the nutritional needs of residents.
• Direct staff in food preparation and meal service in the absence of the Food Service Director.
