About The Position

Oceana Coastal Kitchen is the signature restaurant at the Catamaran Resort Hotel and Spa and is ranked as one of the top three restaurants on TripAdvisor. The Food Server ("Mesero/a") provides warm, attentive, and professional service to all guests, ensuring an exceptional dining experience. This role requires thorough knowledge of all menus and pricing, strong communication skills, and a proactive approach to anticipating guest needs.

Requirements

• At least 1-2 years of relevant experience and/or training.
• A combination of experience, education, and/or training may be substituted for either requirement.
• Availability to work on weekends and holidays is required.
• Must be able to attain a valid San Diego County Food Handler certification upon hire.
• Evans Hotels will provide this training and is to be completed at the company’s expense.
• RBS certification required.
• Ability to always maintain a friendly, professional, team-oriented, positive demeanor and diplomatic attitude, especially under stress or challenges.
• Ability to stand, kneel, squat for prolonged periods of time, up to and including, the entire shift and lift up to 25 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional guest service by greeting guests promptly with a friendly, professional demeanor.
• Present menus, answer questions, and make knowledgeable food and beverage recommendations while utilizing suggestive selling techniques.
• Accurately take and input guest orders into the point-of-sale (POS) system.
• Deliver food and beverages in a timely manner, ensuring accuracy and proper presentation.
• Monitor tables proactively, respond to guest needs, and ensure timely table maintenance throughout the dining experience.
• Conduct table check-backs within 3–4 minutes of food delivery to ensure guest satisfaction.
• Resolve guest concerns professionally and escalate to management when appropriate.
• Maintain thorough knowledge of all menus, including preparation methods, ingredients, allergens, and cooking times.
• Ensure cleanliness and organization of assigned section, including bussing tables and completing opening, closing, and side work duties.
• Follow proper table setting standards, including correct placement of glassware, silverware, and garnishes.
• Handle cash and credit card transactions in accordance with established procedures.
• Maintain a professional appearance, communication style, and service presence at all times.
• Attend required meetings and training sessions to stay current on service standards and operational updates.
• Comply with all company policies, procedures, and service standards.
• Performs additional duties and responsibilities as directed by the leadership team.
