About The Position

The Food Server at Surf & Sand Resort is responsible for providing exceptional service to dining guests by efficiently serving food and beverages while ensuring a memorable dining experience. This role emphasizes hospitality, attention to detail, and effective communication with both guests and team members. The position is part-time and offers a competitive hourly wage, along with various benefits.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Fluency in English is required.
• Minimum one year of experience in food service is required.
• Basic knowledge of foods and beverages, service standards, and procedures is necessary.
• Familiarity with California liquor laws is preferred.
• Hotel experience is preferred.
• A valid food handler's card must be obtained upon hire and maintained.
• A valid California Responsible Beverage Service certification is required.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in a fast-paced restaurant environment.
• Knowledge of cocktail and wine selections.

Responsibilities

• Serve food and beverages to dining guests in a professional manner.
• Respond to guest needs and requests promptly and courteously.
• Greet guests warmly upon arrival and thank them upon departure.
• Communicate guest comments and complaints to the Restaurant Manager or Assistant.
• Follow procedures for efficient and friendly customer service, including taking and serving orders.
• Perform routine side duties such as station setup and polishing glassware.
• Assist in removing used dishes from tables.
• Maintain cleanliness and care of tableware and serving equipment.
• Attend daily pre-service meetings to ensure service flow.
• Communicate effectively with the service team and kitchen staff.
• Ensure complete setup and cleanliness of the service station.
• Use guest names and acknowledge special occasions to enhance hospitality.
• Utilize menu knowledge to make recommendations and upsell items.
• Use the POS system (Micros) to place orders.
