About The Position

The Food Server position is responsible for providing fast and flawless service to guests in a restaurant setting, ensuring a comfortable atmosphere and a great dining experience. This role involves greeting guests, taking orders, delivering food, and maintaining cleanliness and service standards while effectively communicating with guests and team members.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Prior food server experience is preferred.
  • Must be at least 19 years of age.
  • Ability to carry and balance a service tray on shoulder.
  • Legible handwriting is required.
  • Knowledge of menu prices and composition of food and beverage menu items is required.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English is required.
  • Ability to get along with co-workers and work as a team is required.
  • Must present a well-groomed appearance.
  • Must have a sense of urgency and react to changing business demands.
  • Ability to uphold and demonstrate the highest level of integrity in all situations.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains current and accurate information regarding the menu.
  • Greets and welcomes each guest seated in assigned station.
  • Takes initial food and/or beverage order within 2 minutes of guest being seated, repeating the order back for accuracy.
  • Proficient in operating the POS computer and cash handling.
  • Maintains expected service levels and ensures accurate handling of revenue and internal controls.
  • Communicates effectively in a clear, professional, and friendly manner with guests and employees.
  • Differentiates guest service and gives priority service to appropriate tier leveled players.
  • Handles high pressure and difficult situations professionally.
  • Ensures tables are clear, appropriately set up, and presentable for guests before seating.
  • Displays an upbeat and positive attitude when greeting guests and during their dining experience.
  • Presents and up-sells specials and menu items with enticing verbiage.
  • Engages guests in conversation during their dining experience and suggests items based on preferences.
  • Correctly enters food and beverage orders into the POS system for accurate preparation.
  • Delivers prepared food to the appropriate guest within three minutes of completed production order.
  • Returns to the table within five minutes of order delivery to ascertain guest satisfaction.
  • Resolves service issues according to the service recovery toolbox and reports guest dissatisfaction to the supervisor.
  • Presents check for payment to correct customers, thanks them, and invites them back.
  • Maintains cleanliness standards at tables and work stations.
  • Assists bus persons in bussing, cleaning, and setting tables as necessary.
