About The Position

Griffith Foods is hiring a Food Scientist to complete projects and technical initiatives to develop new and optimized products for Griffith US Product Development. This is your opportunity to apply scientific principles to develop, improve, and ensure the safety and quality of Griffith Foods products. This role is affiliated to the ALSIP, IL location, and candidates for this role need to reside within a commutable distance of that location and will be required to come into that location. You may be asked to travel to other locations periodically for meetings. Requirements

Have customer facing experience as a food scientist in the food manufacturing industry
Have experience with QSR customers and processors as a food scientist.
Are able to function as a scientist to develop new and optimized products.
Work with a true sense of urgency.
Have a keen attention to detail, enabling projects quick turnaround time for projects.
Exceptional attention to detail.
Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Meat Science, or related technical degree
Minimum 2-3 years of experience of Research & Product Development or Quality Systems experience within the food industry.
Must be able to consume and taste meat, poultry, and seafood products that may contain allergens including but not limited to wheat, dairy, and egg.
Willingness and ability to work onsite in Alsip, IL 5 days per week
Willingness and ability to travel up to 20% on short notice.

Nice To Haves

Master’s degree is preferred.

Responsibilities

Responsibility for the design, planning, execution, and reporting of experiments and projects.
Completing product formulation activities to drive efficient production of safe and regulatory complaint food products.
Supporting Innovation and Sensory activities that support the long-term strategy of the organization.
Representing Product Development in professional business relationships with Griffith Foods client and supplier base.
Drive new product concepts for product category by contributing ideas.
