About The Position

Reporting to the Senior Principal Development Scientist, you will contribute to the creation and advancement of new product platforms across multiple brands while shaping innovation strategies within our Research & Development Strategic Transformation team. Your scientific expertise and curiosity for food trends and consumer needs will help bring forward-thinking concepts to life from idea to commercialization. This position will be onsite 4 days a week and candidate can be based in Omaha, Nebraska or Chicago, Illinois.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science or a related field.
  • 3+ years of relevant product development experience in a food manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of product design, formulation, ingredient functionality and interaction, process design, scale‑up, plant testing, and commercialization.
  • Leadership orientation when addressing technical solutions to business and market opportunities.
  • Knowledge of food industry quality standards, food safety principles, and FDA expectations.
  • Willingness to work within manufacturing environments that may include loud noise, extreme temperatures, wet conditions, and exposure to food allergens.
  • Travel up to 40 percent as needed for projects.

Responsibilities

  • Develop new products from concept through successful commercialization.
  • Design and conduct plant trials and lead new product start‑ups.
  • Build and manage product development schedules aligned to project timelines.
  • Collaborate with pilot plant teams and operate pilot plant equipment.
  • Work within online specification systems to ensure accurate documentation.
  • Design experiments, conduct testing, and prepare technical results for review.
  • Create prototypes for new product concepts across emerging platforms.
  • Lead product cuttings, plant trials, and testing sessions with cross‑functional partners.
