About The Position

As a Food Scientist 1 at Merieux NutriSciences, you will contribute to our mission of making food systems safer, healthier, and more sustainable. Your role will involve performing physical testing procedures, assisting in the creation of work instructions, and ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards. You will communicate with supervisors and customers, manage sample integrity, and support corporate quality processes. This position is based in a laboratory setting in Gainesville, FL.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred or at least two years of experience in hospitality, retail, or manufacturing.
  • Background in Food Science from work experience or formal education resulting in a degree.

Responsibilities

  • Perform physical testing procedures to identify specified physical characteristics of samples according to client requests.
  • Review existing client-specific evaluation methods to suggest modifications and improvements.
  • Assist in the creation of work instructions, data capture sheets, and data review.
  • Communicate with supervisors or technical support regarding testing procedures and client information.
  • Provide results and additional information within established time frames and inform leadership of any late or out of spec results.
  • Record data in LIMS and produce reports for clients, correcting discrepancies as needed.
  • Receive and log in samples prior to analysis, ensuring accurate identification and documentation.
  • Store samples appropriately and dispose of extra samples after analysis.
  • Prepare samples for shipment to other labs and maintain related documentation.
  • Assist with the development of customized client reports and data entry into customer databases.
  • Support corporate quality and continuous improvement processes.
  • Identify departures from quality systems or test procedures and document observations.
  • Perform other related duties as needed, including involvement in non-food testing and method development.
