The Food Safety Specialist ensures a sustainable, safe, clean, and functional environment in the CookUnity Commissary. This role is crucial in monitoring food production and ensuring all Chefs adhere to food safety regulations. The specialist will perform critical checks including refrigeration, chemical concentration, and temperature checks, and communicate kitchen rules to Chefs as needed. Responsibilities also include ensuring all items in coolers and freezers are appropriately labeled, conducting daily facility compliance walks, and working closely with other departments to correct issues affecting food safety and quality. The specialist will ensure the facility is always ready for inspection by local regulators or third-party auditors and will perform weekly thermometer calibrations for Chefs and the Food Safety team. Collaboration with other members of the Food Safety team in Chef and employee training on food safety and sanitation topics is also a key part of this role.
