About The Position

The Food Safety Coordinator is responsible for maintaining the Global Quality System within the airline catering industry, ensuring compliance with customer, FDA, USDA, and Seafood HACCP regulations. This role is crucial for upholding food safety, sanitation, and regulatory standards, and involves various tasks related to quality assurance and compliance monitoring.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word), thermometers, weight scales, and various food safety tools such as metal detectors and ATP testing equipment.
  • Previous experience in the food industry or quality assurance is a plus.
  • Comfortable working in cold environments (below 40°F).
  • Self-starter with minimal supervision, capable of acting as a liaison for the Supervisor.
  • Ability to lift and push up to 25 lbs.
  • Strong mathematical, analytical, verbal, and written skills.
  • Capable of working in fast-paced environments with large groups.
  • Flexible schedule, with the ability to work weekends and holidays as required.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in the food industry or quality assurance is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and manage all recordkeeping and key performance indicators (KPIs) relevant to the Quality Department.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) daily.
  • Verify cooler and freezer room temperatures for compliance.
  • Perform environmental swabs and microbiological sampling, submitting them to local labs for analysis.
  • Verify that Chef Table samples comply with specifications.
  • Assist the Quality Manager with training and process improvements related to food safety and sanitation.
  • Conduct inspections to verify compliance with HACCP documentation, sanitizer use, food temperatures, and portion control.
  • Perform inspections of workstations, equipment, dispatch areas, and commissary locations for regulatory compliance.
  • Create charts, trend reports, training materials, and visuals for internal use.
  • Ensure compliance with USDA Regulated Garbage Standards and provide training as needed.
