About The Position

Meijer offers an 11-week internship program that challenges interns to deliver innovative solutions to real projects that impact the business. Throughout the course of the internship experience, we deliver diverse personal and professional development opportunities that further develop skillsets that can be implemented both during and after the program. The internship program will allow for interaction with other interns and Meijer senior leaders. The internship program includes: Challenging and impactful projects, final presentations delivered to senior executives, executive speaker series, professional development and training opportunities, networking and community events, and events highlighting key areas of the business.

Requirements

  • Progress toward a Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Nutrition/Culinary Science, Engineering (Agricultural, Biotechnology, Chemical), or other related science degree.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Drive for results with a focus on the bottom line.
  • Customer focus dedicated to meeting expectations of internal and external customers.
  • Ability to create positive working relationships with customers, team members, leadership, and other internal and external constituencies.
  • Strong communication skills to convey information effectively in writing and verbally.
  • Problem-solving skills to probe for answers and interpret data.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in food safety or quality assurance roles.
  • Familiarity with supply chain processes in the food industry.

Responsibilities

  • Focus on key areas of the supply chain related to Food Safety/Quality.
  • Engage in projects that impact the business and allow for personal development.
  • Gain exposure to procurement and merchandising strategies, product development, and manufacturing QA.
  • Measure own brand vendor quality standards and ensure customer service excellence.
  • Meet and exceed government standards regarding facility and product compliance.
