About The Position

Under the general supervision of the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Technician III is responsible for ensuring the proper functioning, maintenance, and repair of the facility's equipment and systems. This role requires advanced technical skills in maintaining boilers, compressors, pumps, and other critical equipment while adhering to safety standards and operational requirements.

Requirements

  • Technician-level knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and natural gas-fired equipment.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and ERP/CMMS programs.
  • Familiarity with safety standards and regulations.
  • Strong attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and ability to work independently.
  • Comfortable working at heights and lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Forklift certification (preferred; training available).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • 3+ years of maintenance experience in manufacturing (food, beverage, or CPG preferred).
  • High school diploma required; additional certifications preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with ammonia refrigeration, steam boilers, and air compressor systems (preferred).
  • RETA 1&2 certification and HAZ-MAT training (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance and repairs on boilers, air compressors, pumps, steam and water valves, and high-pressure condensates.
  • Troubleshoot and adjust equipment controls to correct malfunctions.
  • Monitor load demands, starting or shutting down boilers, air compressors, and pumps to maintain required output for steam, air, and water.
  • Observe operating equipment, meters, and gauges to ensure proper function.
  • Monitor and maintain chemical feed systems for water treatment; perform tests and adjust chemical levels as needed.
  • Inspect boiler safety devices and prepare boilers for annual inspections.
  • Adhere to organizational and departmental safety programs.
  • React promptly to changes in load demands and emergencies, implementing corrective actions as necessary.
  • Log all maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections in the daily logbook.
  • Report abnormal operating conditions or major repairs to the shift supervisor.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work environment in the boiler room and surrounding areas.
  • Assist in annual boiler inspections and collaborate with team members to uphold quality and safety standards.
  • Perform minor repairs such as replacing meters, tightening joints, and packing valves.
  • Respond to facility temperature control issues as reported by departmental personnel.
