About The Position

Position Overview: Provide all necessary services to families and individuals participating in The Salvation Army’s Food Pantry Program.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word
  • Valid PA State Driver’s License
  • Must possess good interpersonal skills and a desire to work with disadvantaged families and individuals
  • Pennsylvania's Child Protective Services Law requires that all prospective employees complete the following clearance and background checks: PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check, and PA DHS Criminal Record/Fingerprint Check. In addition, completion of a Pennsylvania approved Child Abuse Recognition and Reporting Training is necessary prior to employment.
  • Must understand and support for the Mission of The Salvation Army.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain organization within the food pantry based on food pantry policies and procedures
  • Maintains client record in the Service Point database according to THQ guidelines (training provided)
  • Maintains client records in Helping Harvest Food Bank’s Statistical Program.
  • Rotate daily bread/pastry donations in lobby.
  • Rotate food by the FIFO system (First In, First Out).
  • Track temperature log and daily weights of food donations.
  • Maintain Agency Weights spreadsheet and submit to Director of Social Services.
  • Compile and submit monthly food bank stats to Director of Social Services.
  • Compile and submit food assistance statistical information for United Way reporting as requested.
  • Ensure all client data and paperwork related to food assistance is accurate and up to date including tracking of annual self-declarations.
  • Assist in the distribution of food, clothing, or other donated items as appropriate including Holiday Assistance
  • Provide insight and program overview to community agencies and community members as needed.
  • Provide referrals to community-based social services when applicable.
  • Create general and emergency food boxes/bags as requested through referrals and walk-in’s.
  • Assist in the purchasing and ordering of Holiday Assistance food programs (Thanksgiving Distribution and Adopt-A-Family programs).
  • Recruits, trains, schedules, and provides daily supervision of food pantry volunteers.
  • Participate in Food Bank related meetings as required.
  • Participate in various community meetings and programs as necessary.
  • Ensure all staff members are trained in Civil Rights Training per Dept. of Agriculture policies and procedures.
  • Keep food pantry stocked and cleaned.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.
