About The Position

The Food Operations Manager is responsible for leading the daily operations of the school nutrition program and contracted food service management companies (FSMCs). The Food Operations Manager reports to the Director of Food Service Operations and is a part of the Network Support Team. Duties and Responsibilities: Manages the relationship between Mastery schools and Food Service Management Companies (FSMCs) Serves as the main point of contact for all site-based Operations team members for service level issues Directs weekly in-person check-ins with FSMCs and site-based Operations team Ensures the successful completion of all Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) Administrative Reviews of food programming Ensures the successful completion of any required PDE trainings and certifications Serves as the quality control checkpoint for menu and nutrition implementation Anticipates and recognizes potential kitchen challenges at sites and works with FSMC to quickly create solutions Designs and oversees the kitchen summer refresh checklist for school sites preparing for a new school year, leading continuous readiness evaluations of current kitchens within the consortium Establish and manage daily kitchen operations through routine observations using standardized kitchen observation standards Develop and maintain an inspection schedule and checklist to assess kitchen areas, identify repair needs, and proactively prepare for health inspections and audits Organize and manage equipment and facilities repairs & preventative maintenance schedules, working with building engineers, facility directors, and appropriate vendors Completes additional duties, as designated by the Director of Food Service Operations Qualifications: Proficiency in Microsoft Office:(Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint) Ability to learn new systems/software quickly Proven experience multi-tasking, organizing and prioritizing work Excellent interpersonal skills to interact with various campus teams and FSMC leaders Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to adapt quickly to unpredictable challenges Strong ability to establish relationships with peers across a large organization Ability to navigate multiple stakeholders across a large organization, including principals, teachers, families, and community members Ability to travel among sites for in-person meetings Education and Experience: Associate’s degree plus a minimum of four (4) years of related experience, or bachelor’s degree plus a minimum of two (2) years of related experience. Experience working in an historically underserved communities” setting, preferred Experience working in a school setting preferred Other Requirements: Ability to physically perform the essential duties of the role as outlined above, and to work in the environmental conditions required, such as traveling to network campuses, monitoring and interacting with students, in-person facilitation of trainings, etc.; This role may require frequent travel between multiple locations. Reliable transportation is essential to fulfill job responsibilities. Salary and Bonus Information: External candidates hired for this role are eligible for a $3,000 signing bonus! The Food Operations Manager at Mastery can expect a starting salary between $61,000 to $75,800, based on education and experience, with opportunities for growth as your career progresses.
