About The Position

Sodexo is seeking a strong Food Operations Manager for the United States Coast Guard in New London Connecticut. The Operations Manager will report directly to the General Manager and will be responsible for assisting with the day-to-day oversight of all culinary operations for the Coast Guard Academy Dining Facility. Ranked among the nation’s most prestigious institutions of higher learning, the Academy is proud to educate future leaders of America’s multi-mission, maritime military force. Each year, approximately 200 graduates are commissioned as Coast Guard officers to help ensure the safety, security, and stewardship of our nation’s waters. This isn’t just college—it’s college with a purpose.

Requirements

• Have 3-5 years operational management experience in a high-volume food service dining environment.
• Be a people person with a strong focus with maintaining positive client relations ; a solid manager/leader who is perceptive and has attention to details that make a difference – quality and presentation of food – customer service –
• Be SERVICE focused– including providing excellent customer service in a welcoming dining environment.
• Be proficient in use of online Food Management Systems for menu/recipe planning, ordering and inventory;
• Demonstrate proven financial acumen/success: Food costs/ labor costs, budgets.
• have a work history demonstrating strong employee engagement and leadership skills, as well as previous supervisory experience and the ability to work collaboratively;
• have a strong background in safety and sanitation compliance;
• have high volume food service experience;
• can manage multiple priorities, demonstrate professional communication skills, and have a passion for a high level of customer service; and/or
• prioritize tasks and exhibit flexibility to take on additional responsibilities as needed.
• Minimum Education Requirement - Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
• Minimum Management Experience - 3 years
• Minimum Functional Experience - 3 years work experience in food or culinary services including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts, etc.
