About The Position

SodexoMagic is hiring an Operations Manager 2 to oversee student nutrition operations for the District of Columbia Public Schools. Based in the Washington, DC area, the Operations Manager will manage and lead a portfolio of 8 to 10 schools. This role requires strong leadership and communication skills to drive operational goals and client relationships. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of school nutrition management and experience in food services. SodexoMagic is the joint venture partnership between NBA Hall of Famer, Earvin "Magic" Johnson, and Sodexo. As a certified minority company, we deliver food, facilities management and integrated services to corporations, healthcare facilities, K-12 schools, colleges and universities and aviation lounges. This strategic alliance between Magic Johnson Enterprises and Sodexo, Inc., enables us to deliver creative solutions to our clients along with our local partners throughout the communities we serve.

Requirements

  • Proven leadership experience in school nutrition, food services, or related fields
  • Business maturity and emotional intelligence to lead diverse, inclusive teams
  • Strong financial and operational acumen, with strategic decision-making skills
  • Effective communication, team accountability, and conflict resolution capabilities
  • Experience in talent management and developing high-performing teams
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong influencing skills and the ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Minimum Education Requirement - Associate's Degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum Management Experience - 2 years
  • Minimum Functional Experience - 2 years work experience in food or culinary services including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily operations of student nutrition services across 8-10 DCPS schools
  • Supervise and support school-based site leaders and front-line food service teams
  • Manage food procurement, inventory, and ensure food safety and quality standards
  • Implement marketing, culinary, and nutrition programs and initiatives
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with school leadership and support teams
  • Monitor and meet financial, compliance, and operational performance targets
  • Ensure completion of daily Quality Assurance audits and compliance with food and physical safety standards
