About The Position

Sodexo is seeking a Food Operations Manager 1 for our dining operations at Vinson Hall Retirement Community in McLean, Virginia. Vinson Hall is an upscale 325 resident Life Plan Community located on a park-like oasis in vibrant McLean, Virginia and just miles from our nation's capital. This position will oversee dining room operations for the assisted living and healthcare residents as well as assisting with the independent living dining rooms as needed and special catering events. Strong hospitality skills, front-of-house experience is needed. Knowledge of special diets is helpful. The Food Operations Manager will report to the General Manager and manage a staff of approximately 25 hourly employees including dietary aides and servers. Typical shift will be 10:30am - 7:30pm, may vary with every other weekend coverage.

Requirements

  • Have prior food service management experience ideally in a healthcare environment.
  • Strong background in safety and sanitation compliance.
  • Work history demonstrating strong employee engagement leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and demonstrate professional communication skills.
  • Passion for a high level of customer service.
  • Enthusiastic and confident ability to drive employee success to enhance the value of the food and nutrition team.
  • Prioritize tasks and exhibit flexibility to take on additional responsibilities as needed.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of Sodexo Food Management System (FMS), The Market Connection (TMC), Sodexo Menu Graphics (SMG), Catetrax.
  • Proficient in computer skills and report management experience.

Responsibilities

  • Have oversight of 6 dining rooms.
  • Successfully coordinate all required tasks through subordinate managers, supervisors and frontline staff.
  • Deliver high quality food services including catering and resident dining operations.
  • Achieve company and client financial targets and goals.
  • Develop and maintain client and customer relationships.
  • Ensure HACCP, regulatory and standards compliance.
  • Have daily interaction with residents, their families and clinical team to ensure resident satisfaction.
  • Create a positive environment.
  • Ensure Sodexo standards are met.
