About The Position

The position involves essential job functions such as the setup and breakdown of the dish room and cafeteria, ensuring that dishes are clean, sanitized, air dried, and put away before each meal service. The role requires maintaining cleanliness by sweeping, mopping, and managing trash and grease traps as appropriate. Responsibilities also include preparing and serving all menu items while maintaining professional customer service and keeping the cafeteria and dining room clean and stocked at all times. The individual will prep for future recipes, follow recipes to prepare quality, nutritious food under the supervision of the Chef, and understand therapeutic diets to assist patients in meal selections. Additional tasks include preparing nourishments and patient trays, delivering patient trays while adhering to hospital sanitation protocols, and supporting kitchen and café staff as needed. Health and safety standards must be followed at all times to prevent cross-contamination.

Requirements

  • General understanding of food sanitation standards and techniques.
  • Knowledge in use and maintenance of commercial kitchen equipment.
  • Ability to follow detailed written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work and respond to changes in pace productively and efficiently.
  • Ability to focus on all areas of each task and independently complete basic checks required to maintain sanitation and productivity guidelines.
  • Ability to function with minimal supervision.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of therapeutic food production.
  • Experience in institutional food production utilizing recipes.

Responsibilities
