About The Position

San Jose Country Club is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Food Expo with a strong culinary background to serve as the critical link between the kitchen and front-of-house team. This role ensures that all dishes leaving the kitchen meet our standards for quality, accuracy, presentation, and timing. The ideal candidate has hands-on kitchen experience and understands culinary techniques, plating standards, and service flow.

Requirements

  • Previous culinary experience required (line cook, sous chef, or similar role preferred)
  • Strong understanding of kitchen operations and cooking techniques
  • Knowledge of proper plating, portion control, and presentation standards
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask
  • Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and manage ticket flow between kitchen stations and service staff
  • Inspect all dishes for accuracy, portioning, temperature, and presentation before leaving the kitchen
  • Communicate clearly and efficiently with chefs, cooks, and front-of-house team members
  • Ensure proper pacing and timing of courses during à la carte and event service
  • Assist with plating and garnishing when necessary
  • Maintain organization and cleanliness of the expo line
  • Troubleshoot service issues quickly and professionally
  • Uphold all food safety and sanitation standards
