About The Position

As a Field Compliance Assistant, Nutrition Programs, you will play a critical role in supporting the integrity and quality of federally funded nutrition programs across Texas. This is a part-time, hourly position with extensive travel up to 90% throughout your assigned region. In this role, you will serve as a trusted partner to program sites, ensuring compliance with the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) and Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) requirements. You will conduct site visits, review documentation, provide coaching, and help strengthen program delivery on the ground. This position is grant-funded, with continuation dependent on funding renewal.

Requirements

  • Experience in child nutrition programs, after-school programs, compliance, or monitoring roles
  • A working knowledge of CACFP and SFSP requirements or a strong willingness to learn quickly
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to coach, guide, and build trust
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines with accuracy
  • Comfort working in both urban and rural environments with a high degree of autonomy
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and documentation practices
  • High school diploma or equivalent required

Nice To Haves

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in nutrition, public health, education, or related field preferred

Responsibilities

  • Conducting required monitoring visits including pre-approval, scheduled, and unannounced visits across assigned sites
  • Observing meal service to ensure alignment with USDA and state program requirements
  • Reviewing key documentation including meal counts, menus, enrollment forms, and attendance records
  • Identifying compliance gaps, issuing corrective actions, and following through to resolution
  • Providing on-site coaching and technical assistance to strengthen program understanding and execution
  • Documenting findings clearly and maintaining accurate, timely records
  • Preparing reports that highlight trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement
  • Partnering with the Nutrition Grant Manager to support training and continuous improvement efforts
  • Supporting readiness for new site participation through pre-approval assessments
  • Contributing to team meetings, trainings, and broader program initiatives
