Driftwood Golf and Ranch Club is seeking an Assistant Restaurant and Banquet Manager to join the Food and Beverage Service Department. The Assistant Restaurant and Banquet Manager inspires member-facing teams as they enrich member, guest, and prospect experiences. The Assistant Restaurant and Banquet Manager partners with sales, development, food and beverage, member services, outdoor pursuits, human resources and other key operating departments to ensure all teams have the resources and communication necessary to deliver outstanding experiences for all members, guests and prospects. In this role, you will be part of creating the Discovery Land Company experience for our members and fellow employees.

  • Always provide exceptional service and communication with members, guests and team members.
  • Ensure all areas are staffed, outfitted and set up daily.
  • Manage our third party lifeguard team to ensure duties are performed daily during the summer season.
  • Lead by example in the Food and Beverage department, and anticipate daily business levels, coordinating with the Activity Barn Manager and Event Manager.
  • Assist with any member or guest issues/concerns in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Thorough understanding of bar, restaurant menus and pricing.
  • Maintain programming of point-of-sale system/transactions to ensure accurate tracking and charging of product and services.
  • Effectively manage the team through observance and teamwork, ensuring presence and communication with colleagues.
  • Initiate and attend departmental meetings, as necessary.
  • Assist with daily scheduling to ensure areas are staffed adequately along with monitoring punctuality.
  • Ensure continual product quality control and procedures are maintained daily.
  • Organize and efficiently prepare the team to cope with the projected daily activity.
  • Ensure all government, safety, health, and security standards are always compliant for the department.
  • Supervise and coordinate all operations and activities as it relates to the Pool Complex and Events with their associated programs.
  • Maintain cleanliness and general appearance of Pool Complex and events spaces year-round.
  • Oversee daily operations of Pool Complex inclusive of waterslide, lazy river, pools, and food and beverage operations, including all opening and closing procedures.
  • Collaborate with Director of Residential Services/Facilities Maintenance to maintain and manage all pool complex OSE inclusive of sunblock, towels, lazy river inner tubes.
  • Work with Event Manager to plan, promote, and execute daily and special event programming.
  • Manage events from setup, execution, and breakdown.
  • Assist in setting buffets, bars, and other Food and Beverage activiations.
  • Act as the primary liaison with the member.
  • Oversee daily pool maintenance in conjunction with contracted pool maintenance team.
  • Create, manage, track and be accountable for departmental budgets.
  • Assist in the development of all standard operating procedures for Creek, Pool Complex, and adjacent amenities.
  • Work with outdoor pursuits team and member services team to create and execute kid's camp summer program and other summer and year-round programs.
  • Be proactive in creating and innovating amenities and experiences offered.
  • Create or provide reports and files related to the department, including daily reports.
  • Maintain requirements for an effective adult and child AED, First Aid, and CPR program.
  • Any other duties as assigned.
  • At least three (3) or more years’ experience in food and beverage, preferably in luxury resorts, private clubs or fine dining establishments with previous role(s) in a leadership capacity.
  • Banquet management and private event execution highly recommended.
  • Knowledge of food safety standards; possesses or can obtain Food Handlers and TABC certifications.
  • Strong knowledge in fine dining service and bartending.
  • Knowledgeable in wine, beer, and mixed beverages.
  • Strong skills in budget development and oversight.
  • Multi tasking and time management skills to organize workflow and manage multiple deadlines.
  • Ability to learn the club's operating system (currently TEI).
  • Positive attitude, professional demeanor, and exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to deliver service to members, guests, and team members.
  • Must be able to work flexible work hours/schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Long hours may be required due to business demands.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to stay calm and focused during the busiest of times.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English; additional languages preferred.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the position including, but not limited to, working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, standing, walking, and moving for periods of greater than eight (8) hours, and lifting and carrying items sometimes greater than fifty (50) pounds.
