The resort was named the “Jewel of the Desert” since its opening on February 23, 1929. This gorgeous 39-acre property reopened in May 2021 after undergoing a $150 million restoration. Hotel Website, Instagram, Facebook What you will have an opportunity to do: Spire Bar was added to the hotel in 2021 during the renovation and stands as the headquarters of the Biltmore’s lively social scene. The beautiful outdoor bar and lounge has 250-seats serving a delicious array of refreshing cocktails, wines, and culinary creations. Wright Bar is the Biltmore’s famous (and infamous) lobby bar embodying the renegade spirit of Hollywood’s Golden Age featuring craft cocktails and a light bar menu to include our signature Tequila Sunrise - the legendary cocktail that was invented here in the 1930’s! The Food & Beverage Manager (Bars) is responsible for directing and administering sales of food & beverage in restaurants and lounge area.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum of 2–4 years of Food & Beverage management experience required, with a strong background in bar or beverage program management preferred
  • Food Service Sanitation certification required
  • Alcohol Service Certification required (per state regulations)

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management or related field preferred
  • CPR certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Hire, train, supervise, direct, coach, counsel, and evaluate staff across all Food & Beverage outlets, with a strong emphasis on bar operations.
  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, to provide clear direction to the team.
  • Assign and instruct bar and service staff in details of work, including beverage preparation, service standards, and responsible alcohol service.
  • Observe performance and encourage improvement where necessary.
  • Oversee daily bar operations, ensuring adherence to established beverage standards, recipes, and presentation.
  • Maintain product knowledge of spirits, wine, beer, and cocktails.
  • Ensure proper handling of alcohol in compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Monitor bar cleanliness, organization, and readiness at all times.
  • Field guest concerns and complaints by conducting thorough research of the situation and determining the most effective resolution.
  • Make decisions and take appropriate action based on experience and sound judgment.
  • Communicate with guests and team members using a positive and professional approach to ensure satisfaction and resolution.
  • Develop and implement operating standards for Food & Beverage service, including bar programs, in compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements (e.g., Alcohol Awareness Training, ID verification, and service compliance).
  • Ensure all staff are trained and consistently executing to standards.
  • Maximize departmental profitability by implementing effective controls of food, beverage, and labor costs.
  • Monitor budgets to ensure efficient operations, including achieving revenue and labor targets.
  • Oversee beverage inventory management, including ordering, receiving, storage, and par level maintenance.
  • Analyze cost effectiveness and implement profit enhancement strategies, including menu engineering and beverage program development.
