As an F&B Intern, you will be fully immersed in all aspects of our food and beverage operations. From greeting guests in the dining room to coordinating with the kitchen and supporting event service, you will experience the full flow of service at Semiahmoo Resort. Throughout the program, you will work closely with F&B leaders to develop core competencies, including front-of-house roles, back-of-house coordination, service excellence, and operational best practices. You will also gain exposure to leadership and administrative responsibilities, including scheduling, inventory, budgeting, and team management. Regular mentorship and feedback on performance and learning objectives will help you build confidence, skills, and a strong foundation for a successful career in hospitality. What you’ll do:The Brass Tacks Shadow and assist in front-of-house roles: host/hostess, server assistant/food runner, expo, and optional banquet/event support. Practice and master table settings, service sequences, and brand service standards. Greet and engage with guests, building confidence in professional communication. Learn and operate POS systems for order taking and payment processing. Assist with daily side work: restocking, roll-ups, and maintaining cleanliness. Support food safety compliance and allergy awareness protocols. Observe and assist in scheduling and shift planning, understanding labor and workflow impact. Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure smooth FOH/BOH communication and timely service. Participate in service recovery role-play and practice creating personalized guest experiences (“WOW” moments). Assist in pre-shift meetings, internal communications, and side work delegation. Gain meaningful exposure to administrative leadership tasks such as: inventory counts, vendor invoice review, scheduling, and basic budgeting tasks. Complete a capstone project focused on operational or guest experience improvement. Lead small pre-shift huddles or shift debriefs under mentorship. Participate in final project presentations and reflection sessions to assess growth and career goals. Other tasks as assigned The Nitty Gritty Currently a University Student or recent graduate, preferably from Hospitality, Restaurant Management, or a related field. Prior food & beverage experience preferred, but not required. Willingness to learn, show-up, smile and work on a team. Engaged in a forward moving educational or vocational program. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from peers, managers, clients, customers, and the public. The ability to interpret written and oral instructions.Strong computer skills: Full knowledge of Microsoft Office with an emphasis on Outlook, Excel and Word. Don’t meet every single requirement?
