About The Position

Responsible for regular pick-up and delivery of food inventory/supplies to a multi-county network of food pantries. Operates a refrigerated box truck with a gross vehicle weight of up to 52,000 pounds; commercial driver’s license (CDL) is required. Safely loads, transports and unloads or assists in unloading food and related products by hand, pallet mover or forklift. Properly handles/delivers and inventories all products, and responsible for equipment/vehicle sanitation, pest control, security and maintenance. Responsible to assist in the day-to-day warehouse operations, including handling freight, inventory, warehouse layout, facility and vehicle maintenance, and safe operations; maintaining good relationships with partners; and volunteer training. Individual must be a self-starter with proven work ethics and the ability to organize work efficiently and effectively. This position also provides direct services to clients.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • One year of work experience in warehouse or similar setting
  • Demonstrates the necessary attitudes, knowledge, and skills to deliver culturally competent services and work effectively with diverse populations, including LGBTQ and people of color, as well as individuals of all ages and ability levels.
  • Ability to operate heavy equipment (i.e., forklift, large truck driving).
  • Working knowledge of and being responsible for the proper handling/sorting/delivery and inventory of all food products, of all building sanitation, pest control, security and maintenance of all equipment.
  • Proficiency in working with computer applications, including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams and SharePoint).
  • Excellent oral and written English language skills.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to compile data accurately.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, function as a team member, and collaborate with other staff.
  • Strong organizational skills, with a demonstrated ability to prioritize, pay attention to details, manage and complete multiple projects.

  • Pass a full background and MVR check.
  • Submit to a pre-employment drug screening. A negative result is required.
  • Participate in a Clearinghouse Query through the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA).

Responsibilities

  • Operate a refrigerated box truck with a GVW of up to 52,000 pounds to pick up and deliver food and related products. Ensure the truck is properly loaded, secured and within weight limits.
  • Responsible for scheduling fleet maintenance.
  • Responsible for maintaining fleet compliance with Federal, State, and local regulations.
  • Maintain vehicle records.
  • Coordinate/maintain driver records with HR.
  • Coordinate scheduling needs with Food Bank Director.
  • Assign work to Motor Vehicle Operator as needed.
  • Ensure required training is completed for all designated drivers.
  • Responsible for safe day-to-day physical operations in the warehouse along with maintaining sanitation standards, which include sorting, storage, and distribution of food.
  • Responsible for training warehouse volunteers, as needed.
  • Responsible for inventory, including verification of quantity and quality of products upon receipt; logging donations; and taking monthly inventories.
  • Responsible for maintaining good working relations with various food programs regarding coordination of pick-up and delivery times.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of agency policies and procedures as demonstrated through quality performance of daily duties such as collection and correction of staff timesheets.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of various Food Bank programs such as CSFP, TEFAP, EFAP, Farm to Food Pantry, and Backpack Bridge. Can assist the Food Bank Director in preparing for monitoring visits, reports, and grant writing, Helps develop policy and procedures, and collection of monthly reporting required of the services provided.
  • Perform participant program eligibility verification and documentation.
  • Must be comfortable making presentations and other outreach activities to diverse clients regarding basic food benefits.
  • Provide referral to other community resources/services.
  • Ensures that all federal, state, agency, and donor guidelines are met.
  • Develop inclusive approaches and outreach in working with non-English-speaking, multi-ethnic community, and the developmentally disadvantaged.
  • Consistently and properly utilize Personal Protective Equipment and other safety mechanisms and protocols to maintain the highest level of personal and worksite safety in all work activities.
  • Demonstrate regular and reliable physical attendance, requesting any scheduled leave in advance and any unscheduled leave with the supervisor as soon as reasonably possible.
  • Attend all scheduled staff meetings.
  • Attend training sessions as required by the funding source or the agency.
  • Attend any other meetings or trainings as required.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
