About The Position

The Food and Nutrition Team Member position at Advocate Christ Hospital & Medical Center involves working part-time from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM, primarily in the Food Service Department. The role includes responsibilities in patient, retail, and catering areas, with a focus on sanitation and food safety. Team members are expected to work 3 out of 4 weekends and must be adaptable to various positions such as tray passing or tray line. The position offers a pay range of $18.50 to $27.75, based on qualifications and experience.

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, or currently enrolled in high school preferred.
• Minimum of 1 year previous food handling experience preferred.
• Food Service Handler training within 3 months of hire.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Ability to communicate effectively and perform basic mathematical functions.
• Basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Completing all duties listed on the job routine.
• Determining if any perishable item needs to be excluded from service due to spoilage.
• Cleaning, maintaining, and stocking assigned areas.
• Preparing, expediting, delivering, and retrieving patient trays.
• Serving cafeteria customers and handling P.O.S. transactions.
• Following standardized recipes, production standards, and food safety processes.
• Working in the dish room/pot and pan areas as assigned.
• Assisting with catering orders and performing set-up and clean-up of catering events.
• Maintaining overall cleanliness of the department.
• Practicing safety and sanitation techniques that meet department standards.
