About The Position

The position involves performing a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled duties in the kitchen and/or dining room. Responsibilities include preparing bread and butter, sandwiches, beverages, and individual servings of cold cereal, fruit juice, and salads as needed. The role also requires setting up and delivering food carts or trays to the dining room, serving residents, and setting up food trays according to diet cards. Additional tasks include placing silverware, glassware, and dishes on trays or tables, portioning food, scraping food from soiled dishes, and transporting them to the dish machine area. The employee will also carry and dispose of garbage and perform cleaning tasks on equipment, floors, walls, and related areas. Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Current American Heart - Basic Life Support (BLS) card.
  • Certification: Food Handler certification from an ANSI-accredited organization (Must have within 30 days of employment).
  • Performs related responsibilities as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Adheres to all sanitation procedures and established systems to provide a safe environment.
  • Complies with all OSHA regulations and other local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Maintains compliance with GCRMC standards of operation.
  • Adheres to GCRMC Business Conduct Policy at all times.
  • Maintains all records and reports to ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and codes.
  • Performs various cleaning activities to maintain department sanitation standards, including scraping, washing, rinsing, sanitizing, and storing all pots, pans, sheet pans, utensils, and small equipment.
  • Sweeps, mops, and scrubs department floors and cleans ice machines.
  • Sets up and maintains assigned work area in a neat, clean, and orderly manner to facilitate efficiency and ensure food safety.
  • Provides additional services to enhance customer service.
  • Recognizes and adopts activities appropriate to the specific needs of the patient/resident population and demonstrates knowledge of specific issues directly related to the age of the patient/resident population.
  • Delivers food carts to certain patient units which require nursing staff to deliver trays.
  • Gathers trash for the entire department and removes it to the trash compactor.
  • Removes and sets up cafeteria and Doctor's Dining Room tables and chairs for carpet cleaning and for special catered events.
