About The Position

The Follow-Up Specialist assigned to the RSSP program for refugees plays a crucial role in ensuring the long-term success of participants. They monitor progress by conducting regular check-ins, providing personalized support, and addressing any challenges faced by refugees in their new work environments. By connecting participants with additional resources, offering career counseling, and facilitating job placements, the follow-up specialist helps refugees integrate smoothly into the workforce. Their efforts contribute to the participants' stability and growth, ultimately fostering economic independence and self-sufficiency.

Requirements

  • Education: Associates degree in Social Work, Human Services, Counseling, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in workforce development, case management, or a related field, preferably working with refugees or other vulnerable populations.
  • Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, cultural sensitivity, ability to work independently and as part of a team, and proficiency in using case management software and other relevant technology.
  • Language: Proficiency in at least one language in addition to Engligh [Spanish, French, Pashto, etc] is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor Progress: Conduct regular follow-up visits or calls with program participants to assess their employment status, job satisfaction, and any challenges they may be facing.
  • Provide Support: Offer continuous guidance and support to help participants overcome obstacles in their new jobs, including workplace conflicts, skill gaps, and cultural adjustments.
  • Resource Referral: Connect participants with additional resources such as job training programs, educational opportunities, financial assistance, and support services like childcare and transportation.
  • Career Counseling: Provide individualized career counseling to help participants identify their strengths, set career goals, and develop action plans to achieve them.
  • Job Placement Assistance: Assist participants in finding suitable job opportunities, preparing for interviews, and completing job applications. Work with employers to address any issues that may arise and ensure job retention.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of participant progress, follow-up actions, and outcomes. Prepare reports for program stakeholders and funding agencies.
  • Build Partnerships: Collaborate with employers, training providers, and community organizations to create a network of support for participants and identify new job opportunities.
  • Advocacy: Advocate for participants' needs and rights, ensuring they have access to necessary resources and support to succeed in the workforce.
