About The Position

The Folk Arts and Engagement Specialist is responsible for providing key programmatic support for both Arkansas Folk and Traditional Arts (AFTA), as well as Engagement and Outreach in Special Collections. The Specialist, reporting to the Director of Arkansas Folk and Traditional Arts, will be the primary manager of the oral history lab, scheduling appointments and making sure equipment is properly set. Additionally, the Folk Arts and Engagement Specialist will oversee digital communications for Arkansas Folk and Traditional Arts (website, social media, and newsletters). Working in partnership with the University Libraries Director of Public Relations, the Specialist will also create content for Special Collections Outreach and Engagement (accounts managed by the Public Relations Director). Digital communications support includes editorial and design support for any publications housed by the University of Arkansas Libraries Special Collections Division. General programming support for AFTA will also include grant management, organization of AFTA fieldwork for deposit in Special Collections, and performing other duties as assigned. Finally, this role will provide outreach and exhibit design support for the Exhibit and Engagement Archivist, including research and exhibit fabrication, as well as curation of materials for tabling events. Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.
