About The Position

Operate and maintain large and small format folders (folders first station, right turn angle, second station, knife unit, glue unit, utilizing either round pile feeders or pharma style friction feeders). Qualifications 1. Perform daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance as needed on folders. 2. Set up and trouble shoot problems to customer’s tolerance (typically 1/16”). 3. Finished units will be glued shut with no exposed edges. 4. Set up requirements include: fold plates, water scores, hard scores, roller tension, glue heads, knife folds, air and vacuum adjustments. 5. Accurately fill out paperwork, utilizing GMP requirements (much more extensive than a normal bindery), it includes charging paper properly to jobs, quality and productivity forms. 6. Accurately read and implement job jacket information and customer specifications. 7. Understand / Maintain / pay attention to electronic equipment such as bar code readers, jam detectors, and double sheet detectors. 8. Able to fold up to 16 plates in the 1st section down to 1 1/8” 9. Use right angle folds up to 14 panels, using 3 knife folds. 10. Assist in loading, catching, inspecting, and finishing inventory on machine as needed, working as a team player. 11. Operate folder in a manner that prevents damage to the equipment, a safe manner that prevents injury to self and others, and complies to daily production goals. 12. Follow all procedures, 6S, and cGMP’s as required. 13. Training other co-workers as needed for production demands. 14. Other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by Lead/Supervisor/Manager.

Requirements

  • Attention to detail.
  • Able to accurately read a ruler to 1/64”
  • Good organizational skills
  • Able to read, write, and speak English.
  • Good mechanical skills.
  • Oversee multiple machines at one time.
  • Ensure all quality checks are being performed as per SOPs.
  • Knowledge of proper use of rulers, calipers, gauges, and assorted hand tools.
  • Must have good interpersonal skills and be able to interface with all departments.
  • Initiative.

  • Ability to maneuver in tight spaces.
  • To do a lot of bending and reaching
  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.
  • Ability to bend, reach, crawl, twist and lift at least 50 pounds unassisted is required.
  • The ability to see, hear, count, measure, read and follow verbal directives in English is required.
  • The ability to differentiate colors, horizontal and vertical positions is required.
  • The ability to utilize fine motor skills while working on sensitive machinery is essential.
  • The ability to move pallets of product using a hand truck (pallet jack).
  • Knowledge of printing production.
  • High School Diploma

Nice To Haves

  • Folder Technician background is preferred.
  • Background with folding and gluing systems preferred.
