About The Position

Requirements

  • Undergraduate technical degree in science, Mechanical Engineering, Material Science, or a relevant technical program.
  • Three or more years of experience operating a focused ion beam or dual beam system.
  • Experience automating FIB processes with OEM system scripting software.
  • High level of attention to detail in work processes.
  • Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of focused ion beam systems and technology.

Nice To Haves

  • Three years of experience with automated machine tools and knowledge of G-code for machine automation.
  • Experience with mechanical micro-machining tools such as micro-wire EDM, micromills, and microlathes.
  • Experience in sales and marketing of microscope services and components.
  • Experience with automated machine tool development.
  • Ten years of experience utilizing FIB tools and developing FIB processes.
  • Experience with ion and electron microscopy in a commercial environment.
  • Experience with production and metrology of micro-hole apertures.

Responsibilities

  • Operate focused ion beam and scanning electron microscopes for various applications including micromachining and imaging.
  • Complete FIB service work and SEM imaging for external customers and internal production support.
  • Manage system workflow for volume production and prototyping projects using FIB processes.
  • Perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting of FIB and SEM systems to ensure high availability.
  • Develop new processes to enhance quality and throughput of FIB milling operations.
  • Coordinate and assist with system upgrades to improve tool capabilities.
  • Support R&D projects to develop new FIB technology and applications.
  • Crosstrain to support automated test processes and operation of CMM tools.
  • Manage the production of micromachined components for external sales.
  • Assist with sales and marketing of FIB components and services.
