Requirements

• Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner Program.
• Previous experience in rural health preferred.
• Certified with National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants or Nurse Practitioner meeting regulations of North Carolina Board of Nursing.
• Current BLS Certification.

Responsibilities

• Provide general and preventative care, conduct check-ups, treat illnesses, order lab tests and prescribe medication for children and adults.
• Make decisions reflecting knowledge of facts, knowledge of diseases/surgical conditions, care required and good judgment.
• Perform a head to toe preoperative assessment on all patients and reassess as needed.
• Formulate an individualized plan of care as indicated and evaluate for effectiveness.
• Make appropriate explanations to patients regarding procedures.
• Monitor patient and physician satisfaction and follow through on needs identified through the monitoring process.
• Maintain current basic medical knowledge.
• Demonstrate competence and skill in the application of knowledge.
• Perform History and Physical exam proficiently.
• Ensure record keeping is accurate, complete and timely.
• Keep Rural Health Clinic Medical Director informed of unusual occurrences.
• Demonstrate the knowledge and skills to provide care appropriate to the age and gender.
• Treat patients and their families with respect and dignity.
• Abide by policies and procedures of AMH.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
