Brief Description/Job Summary (this section is to be used for postings on social media outlets): The Role: Xylem seeks to hire a Shipping/Receiving clerk for our Southaven, MS facility. The Shipping/Receiving clerk performs a variety of routine shipping and receiving tasks. Compares identifying information on incoming or outgoing shipments with purchase orders, invoices, or other documents.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent work experience
  • 2-3 years prior experience in an industrial warehouse environment
  • Knowledge of light equipment operation and or maintenance
  • Knowledge of postal or commercial shipping methods and procedures
  • Knowledge of related accreditation and certification requirements
  • Ability to read, write and perform simple arithmetic
  • Ability to receive, stock, and/or deliver goods
  • Ability to receive, track, and distribute materials, supplies, and equipment
  • Ability to read, sort, check, count, and verify numbers
  • Ability to prepare routine administrative paperwork and maintain records
  • Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures
  • Ability to detect problems and report information to appropriate personnel
  • Considerable walking, bending, twisting, lifting and carrying (to maximum of 35 pounds), pushing and pulling (including overhead)
  • Typical warehouse distribution center environment

Responsibilities

  • Sorts, counts, packages, labels, insures, unpacks, and/or logs inventory that is shipped or received.
  • Records discrepancies or damages and notifies supervisor and/or purchasing personnel.
  • May trace lost shipments and/or customer claims of lost shipments; initiates proof of delivery documents.
  • May maintain department database, prepare routine reports, and file shipping/receiving records.
  • Follows established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, and safety, environmental, and/or infection control standards.
  • Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
  • Participation in Xylem Watermark volunteer activities
