About The Position

We are seeking a Fly-Fishing Travel Specialist to join our team of travel professionals in Sunderland, Vermont. While we are passionate about the outdoors, this is an office-based position, requiring a minimum of 40 hours per week. There will be occasional opportunities to lead Orvis group trips as well as participate in familiarization trips to Orvis-Endorsed destinations. Orvis Adventures is dedicated to providing Orvis customers with unique trips—both domestically and internationally—that reflect the Orvis lifestyle. We are on a never-ending journey to learn and share our love of the outdoors, a passion that begins with fly fishing and wing shooting. Our travel specialists provide the highest quality, friendly customer service in every phase of trip selection, planning and participation. Orvis Adventures trips are part of the lifetime relationship between customers and the Orvis Company. Extraordinary customer relationships and personal connections are the foundation of our success. The Fly-Fishing Travel Specialist is responsible for driving sales growth and profit by providing world-class service to new and existing Orvis customers. The primary focus for this position is direct sales of fly-fishing trips - as well as some wing shooting trips - to individuals and groups, primarily by telephone and email. The ideal candidate should be passionate about fly fishing and connecting with the outdoors and possess an in-depth knowledge of fly-fishing techniques as well as fly-fishing gear. Equally important, the candidate should exude passion for helping customers plan the trip of a lifetime by working with Orvis-endorsed partners to connect each customer with a lodge or outfitter that will be a good fit for their interests and level of experience. Knowledge of domestic and international fly-fishing destinations is preferred. The position is a combination of front-line sales, customer service, database management and tour operations. For more than 165 years the Orvis name has stood for outdoor traditions, quality, and customer satisfaction. At Orvis, we do not sell what we, ourselves, would not be proud to own or give as a gift. Our associates deserve to be proud of our service and our products, and we rely on every associate to apply our “pride of ownership” credo to drive our quality. “Good enough” is not our standard. We need to strive for perfection in our products and customer service, to propel our growth and the pride that will fuel our team.
