Element has an opportunity for a Fluids Engineer I to join our rapidly expanding team. As a member of the operations team, the Fluids Engineer performs a variety of routine and non-routine testing assignments within the department assigned and insures timely and accurate test results under minimal direct supervision. The Fluids Engineer positions must be proficient in a number of core business practices and technical skills including but not limited to compliance to established safety rules, code of conduct, and company policies and procedures. The Fluids Engineer is expected to prepare engineering drawings, BOM's and P&ID's, support with test stand builds, evaluate functionality and performance, and document and report testing results. This position involves support and direction on assembly of cryogenic and high-pressure systems, hydrogen system prototype testing. Salary: $80,000 - $110,000/yr DOE

  • Review and develop system P&ID and procedures from a customer Statement of Work
  • Provide counsel to coworkers and customers requiring critical analysis of data
  • Is able to oversee and guide problem solving of complicated technical challenges
  • Select appropriate sensors and instrumentation to monitor and control process variables
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate control systems for various cryogenic storage systems
  • Conduct system testing, validation, and troubleshooting to ensure reliability and accuracy
  • Develop and maintain documentation, including system specifications, design documents, and user manuals
  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in aerospace, mechanical, manufacturing, materials engineering, or a related field. Master's preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year of work experience in cryogenics, vacuum insulation, cryogenic liquid transfer, fittings, valves
  • Knowledge of cryogenic fluids, materials for low temperature service, cryogenic equipment, cryogenic vessels, fittings, valves, piping, hoses, components, cryogenic physical and equipment hazards.
  • Proficiency in specifying and assembling cryogenic and high-pressure fittings.
  • Experience with Piping and Pressure Vessel Codes (ASME VIII and B31.3)
  • Experience with 3D CAD software a plus (SolidWorks or equivalent)
  • Experience with heavy rotating machinery (e.g., compressors, turbines, pumps)
  • Willingness to undertake tedious assembly or testing including long-duration runs, troubleshooting and iterative improvements.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills to consult with scientists, engineers, and other stakeholders and to provide them with clear progress reports and suggestions for improvement.
  • Cryogenic certification is a plus.
  • Experience with hydrogen handling, safety and permitting is a plus.
  • Expertise in PLC and/or LabView programming is a plus.
