About The Position

Are you a research scientist specializing in fluid dynamics? Do you have experience with both computational and laboratory work? Would you like to apply your expertise to challenging physics problems in the national security arena? If so, we're looking for someone like you to join our team at JHU/APL. In the Oceanic, Atmospheric and Remote Sensing Sciences Group at APL, we strive to transform fundamental research into technical innovations that significantly impact how navy ships interact with the marine environment. We are seeking a scientist to conduct research in fluid dynamics in support of the Navy. You'll join a team of research scientists and engineers working to better understand the physics of wakes and ocean dynamics.

Requirements

A PhD in physics, mathematics, or engineering, with a focus on fluid dynamics.
Experience with computational fluid dynamics in the maritime domain area.
Conducted laboratory experiments using particle imaging velocimetry (PIV).
Are able to obtain an Interim Secret level security clearance by your start date and can ultimately obtain a Top Secret level clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.

Responsibilities

Help design and execute laboratory experiments and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) studies.
Analyze and interpret data, and present results and conclusions to our Navy sponsors.
Potentially participate in at-sea experiments and collaborate with academic and industrial partners.
