We welcome candidates who can contribute to the excellence of our academic community. Description KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervises flow cytometry laboratory personnel. Provides cell sorting services to researchers to include sorting of potentially biohazardous samples. Handles routine maintenance of instruments, including troubleshooting and repair of electronics, fluidics, lasers, and computer components. Manages all components of the Flow Cytometry cores clinical contract program and liaises with program leaders. Liaises with Children's Clinical and Translational Discovery Core managing core clinical assay development. Establishes and maintains a program to authorize use of instruments by independent researchers. Develops basic and advanced flow cytometry training programs. Serves as a key resource in technical and scientific areas related to scientific consulting services, including experimental design, sample preparation, and protocol development for a diverse array of users from multiple disciplines, including immunology, oncology, biochemistry, hematology, and pathology. Trains new users in the operation of benchtop analytical flow cytometers. Provides scientific consulting services, including experimental design, sample preparation, and protocol development for a diverse array of users from multiple disciplines, including immunology, oncology, biochemistry, hematology, and pathology. Interfaces with equipment field service engineers and ensures compliance with relevant maintenance contracts. Prepares budgets and billing statements, and balances accounts. ' Provides support for grant applications by assisting with data presentation and facility descriptions. Oversees the development of a web site, to include information on recharge rates, online scheduling, scientific protocols, and links to other related web sites. Provides input into new instrument purchasing decisions. Performs related responsibilities as required.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree, preferably in a biological science or medical technology and three years of related experience, of which at least one year is in a supervisory role in a laboratory, OR an equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.
Demonstrated expertise in immunophenotyping and flow cytometry, with documentation in the form of a portfolio of previous work.

Nice To Haves

Minimum of 5 years flow experience and extensive knowledge on the operation of a Flow Core.
PhD in related biological sciences.
