About The Position

As a part of our manufacturing group, you will be responsible for the movement and storage of raw material; ingredients and finished product; inbound and outbound shipments; and production inventory needs. Shift hours: 8-hour shifts 2nd shift: 3 pm to 11 pm 3rd shift: 11 pm to 7 am Currently hiring for 2nd and/or 3rd Shift (dependent upon business need) Dependent upon business need, this position will require ability to work 6 and/or 7 day workweeks. More information on scheduling will be provided during the interview process Ability and willingness to work overtime, any shift, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays, including 4 hours prior to or over scheduled shift (when needed) Plant operation is 24 hours a day, 7 days a week At our Avon Mill, we produce 50 lb. bags of flour that are distributed to restaurants, cruise ships, hotels, schools, as well as Betty Crocker dry mix pouches. Our plant is unique in that we have two product platforms: flour and dry mixes. The flour we produce is integrated into our Betty Crocker mixes. We are a small plant with a great culture where you will get to know the people you work with. Fun facts about Avon are that we produce an average of 1.1 millions pounds of flour a day and about 100 million Betty Crocker pouches a year. When making our chocolate chip cookie mix, around 2000 lbs of chocolate is added per hour to the packaging line! Flour (25 and 50 lb bags) and Betty Crocker dry mix pouches (cookies, brownies, muffins, pizza crust, biscuits). Requirements

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or GED
  • At least 2 years of Forklift operation experience preferred
  • Experience in warehouse operations and use of WMS (preferably SAP, Blue Yonder)
  • Must be able to obtain Iowa Commercial Pesticide and Fumigation Application certification within 6 months in role
  • Must be able to successfully complete Packing Technician training/test within 6 months in role
  • Forklift and/or other POV license/certification must be obtained within 6 months in role
  • Basic computer skills, including the ability to interact with digital systems used in daily tasks
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Must be able to perform physical tasks for extended periods of time including standing, walking, climbing, bending, pushing, pulling and twisting over surfaces
  • Ability to climb and/or work at heights while utilizing stairs, ladders, personnel lifts, or platforms
  • Ability to wear protective clothing and equipment such as safety shoes, face masks, safety glasses, hearing protection, a hard hat, a hair/beard net and gloves when required
  • Willing and able to adhere to all grooming requirements necessary for a food manufacturing environment
  • Ability to work in hot, cold, noisy, dusty, wet environmental working conditions
  • Willing to work around industrial high-speed moving machinery
  • Ability to work with allergens that might be present in a food environment

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a manufacturing/production environment preferred

Responsibilities

  • Forklift operation within production/packaging and warehouse operations
  • Assist in flour operations and filling in as Flour Operations Technician - Packing
  • Serve as back-up to Warehouse Department Lead
  • Selecting, preparing, and loading products for outbound shipment per customer specifications
  • Responsible for the storage of raw material or finished product
  • Assist with railcar movement
  • Conduct railcar fumigation
  • Receiving, unloading, and inspecting inbound materials
  • Accurately and timely receive inbound and outbound materials into warehouse inventory management system; perform inventory functions
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement initiatives to increase platform performance
  • Assist in training new employees
