About The Position

The Florida Director of Digital Content at TEGNA Inc. is a strategic leadership role responsible for overseeing digital news operations across multiple stations in Florida. This position aims to enhance local journalism through innovative digital strategies, audience engagement, and cross-platform content creation. The director will collaborate with newsroom leaders to implement a cohesive digital vision that meets the evolving needs of Florida audiences, ensuring impactful journalism across digital and streaming platforms.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a digital director in TV or a digitally-savvy industry.
  • Minimum of two years as a team leader with multiple direct reports.
  • Strong editorial judgment and experience driving digital content strategy.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • History of introducing new concepts across multiple departments.
  • Expert knowledge of SEO best practices and audience analytics tools.
  • Ability to thrive under pressure and manage live news situations.
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Outstanding commitment to journalism ethics.

  • Manage digital content teams across both stations, setting strategic goals to drive audience growth and engagement.

  • Foster a streaming-first mentality and define a streaming vision for successful execution.
  • Partner with functional leaders to develop a unified statewide digital content strategy.
  • Leverage data and analytics to inform editorial and strategic decisions for optimized audience engagement.
  • Guide teams to produce unique, engaging, and shareable content for Florida communities.
  • Train, coach, and mentor digital content staff, fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment.
