About The Position

The Floral Sales Associate position at WEIS involves maintaining a well-stocked and appealing floral department to meet customer demand. Key responsibilities include greeting customers, discussing their needs, making suggestions, handling special requests, and resolving concerns. The associate is also responsible for setting up displays, ensuring product freshness and correct pricing, handling spoiled products, and creating arrangements to attract customers. Adherence to company merchandising guidelines, including advertised items and incremental displays, is required to drive sales. The role also encompasses general department sanitation, following cleaning schedules, and ensuring work areas meet health and OSHA requirements. Additional duties include proper trash disposal, reviewing product and supply orders, minimizing loss through inspection and refrigeration, and reporting shortages or overages to management. Associates may also assist with receiving, unloading, checking-in, breaking-down, and storing deliveries using power or hand jacks, and baling cardboard, with training provided. Cooperation with co-workers and supervisors is essential for smooth department and store function, along with continuous job performance improvement. The position requires the utilization of company-provided Personal Protected Equipment (PPE) such as cut-resistant gloves, safety cutters, and company-sponsored footwear. Associates may also be called upon to assist in other departments. Requirements

Completed or working towards a High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
No prior experience required.
Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily with or without an accommodation.
Knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required to perform essential duties.
Utilization of all company provided Personal Protected Equipment (PPE).

Responsibilities

Keeps floral department well stocked and appealing to meet customer demand.
Smiles and greets customers.
Discusses customers’ needs, makes suggestions, handles special requests and resolves customer concerns in a prompt and courteous manner.
Sets up displays and ensures that floral product is always fresh and in saleable condition with correct pricing and signage.
Handles spoiled or damaged product according to company procedures and standards.
Creates arrangements on the sales floor to attract customers.
Follows company guidelines for merchandising product such as advertised items and utilizes incremental displays to drive sales.
Responsible for general sanitation in the department.
Follows cleaning schedules and department guidelines to ensure that work areas, counters, display cases, etc. are well maintained, clean and meet all health and OSHA requirements.
Disposes of trash properly.
Reviews orders of product and supplies.
Minimizes loss by inspecting product upon delivery and maintaining proper refrigeration.
Reports any shortages or overages to management.
May assist with receiving, unloading, checking-in, breaking-down, and storing deliveries through operation of power jack or hand jack if properly trained.
May assist with baling cardboard or other related duties if properly trained.
Ensures smooth function of department and store by cooperating with co-workers and supervisors.
Responsible to continuously improve job performance.
Responsible for utilization of all company provided Personal Protected Equipment (PPE). Including but not limited to cut resistant gloves, safety cutters, company sponsored footwear, etc.
