Pay Transparency: Starting rates will be no less than the local minimum wage and may vary based on things like location, experience, qualifications, and the terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement. Candidates with unique qualifications may be considered for compensation above this range. Dependent on length of service, hours worked, any applicable collective bargaining agreement and/or Company policy, benefits may include medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance, sick pay, PTO/Vacation pay, paid holidays, bereavement pay and retirement benefits (pension and/or 401(k) eligibility). Associates in this position may be eligible for a quarterly bonus, subject to Company bonus plans. Applications are accepted on an on-going basis. For roles in Washington State: Sick pay and PTO/Vacation pay are accrued based on hours worked and paid holidays are issued at 7-9 days annually.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness, delivering fast and friendly service.
  • Assist customers with product suggestions and provide knowledgeable recommendations.
  • Engage in suggestive selling via telephone, in‑store intercom, and direct customer interaction.
  • Take special orders in person and by phone.
  • Address and resolve customer complaints appropriately; escalate to Store Director when needed.
  • Order balloons, helium tanks, plants, flowers, accessories, and related merchandise.
  • Ensure product freshness, quality, and adequate selection.
  • Monitor sales trends, special‑occasion requirements, seasonal and ad-driven promotions, and customer feedback.
  • Plan daily operations and monitor production processes in line with company procedures.
  • Upgrade plants, create bows, inflate balloons, and prepare bouquets.
  • Prepare floral designs according to Company standards.
  • Follow department standards for floral upgrades, balloon upgrades, and candy arrangements.
  • Assist designers and sales employees and support them in completing tasks.
  • Monitor employee productivity and evaluate performance.
  • Maintain working knowledge of all department roles.
  • Understand all opening and closing procedures.
  • Schedule, supervise, train, and assign duties to department employees.
  • Train team members on store policies, sales procedures, and record‑keeping expectations.
  • Implement personnel actions including interviews, transfers, promotions, and corrective actions.
  • Maintain working knowledge of company policies and guidelines as outlined in the Albertsons/Tom Thumb Employee Handbook.
  • Ensure accurate code‑dating practices across all products.
  • Prepare sales and inventory reports; conduct physical inventory every 4 weeks.
  • Process administrative paperwork and maintain department records.
  • Control shrink and manage cost.
  • Comply with all workplace safety rules and regulations.
  • Implement correct product preparation techniques.
  • Operate required equipment such as pallet jacks, hand trucks, scissors, knives, safety cutters, stem cutters, choppers, wire tools, hot glue guns, spray paint, heat‑sealing machines, and helium tanks.
  • Perform receiving duties including breaking down loads, verifying orders, inspecting quality, reporting shortages, and stocking/rotating product.
  • Follow product temperature, storage, packaging, and conditioning standards for all plants, shrubs, flowers, and cut floral items.
  • Maintain safety, cleanliness, and sanitation of work areas, coolers, equipment, and displays, including code-date compliance.
  • Ensure proper pricing and signage.
  • Implement emergency procedures for equipment or software malfunctions.
