The Floral Designer is responsible for creating floral arrangements at the request of customers and filling necessary merchandising needs. This position involves taking floral orders in person and over the telephone, and operating as a lead with the floral clerks.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • High School diploma or three years of similar or related work experience.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and interpret instructions.
  • Ability to perform arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages.
  • Ability to file, post, and mail materials; copy data from one record to another.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in floral design or related field.
  • Knowledge of floral products, care and handling, and plant and flower identification.

Responsibilities

  • Provides prompt, efficient and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern and patience in all customer interactions.
  • Greets customers in a friendly manner and makes an effort to learn their names.
  • Assists customers by escorting them to products, loading or unloading heavy items, and passing along customer suggestions.
  • Answers the telephone promptly and provides friendly, helpful service.
  • Works with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Cleans, processes, and cuts flowers appropriately.
  • Responsible for the department in the absence of the Manager or Assistant Manager.
  • Understands and processes FTD, interstore, Teleflora orders, and Internet Orders.
  • Inventories product, evaluates status, cares for damaged product, and replaces where necessary.
  • Fills customer orders completely and creates floral arrangements in a timely manner.
  • Ensures floral products are fresh in the shop and throughout the store.
  • Takes special requests for products in person or over the telephone.
  • Counsels customers regarding plants and floral care.
  • Identifies key areas to place specials within the store.
  • Operates as a lead with the floral clerks, training them on simple designs and how to take telephone orders.
  • Orders flowers and supplies daily or as needed with the direction of the Floral Manager.
  • Handles customer issues and product problems.
  • Unloads trucks, places product in appropriate storage area, and replenishes merchandise.
  • Wraps flowers carefully to avoid damage.
  • Adheres to company policies and individual store guidelines.
  • Reports to work when scheduled and on time.
