About The Position

The Floral Designer at Hy-Vee is responsible for creating floral arrangements at the request of customers and fulfilling necessary merchandising needs. This role involves taking floral orders both in person and over the telephone, and operating as a lead with the floral clerks. The position requires a commitment to providing excellent customer service and maintaining the quality of floral products in the shop.

Requirements

• High School diploma or three years of similar or related work experience.
• Ability to solve practical problems and interpret instructions.
• Ability to perform arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages.
• Ability to file, post, and mail materials, and guide people.
• Physical ability to perform medium work, including lifting up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Provides prompt, efficient and friendly customer service.
• Greets customers in a friendly manner and learns their names.
• Assists customers in locating products and loading/unloading heavy items.
• Answers the telephone promptly and provides helpful service.
• Cleans, processes, and cuts flowers appropriately.
• Responsible for the department in the absence of the Manager or Assistant Manager.
• Processes FTD, interstore, Teleflora, and Internet orders.
• Inventories product and cares for damaged items.
• Creates floral arrangements and fills customer orders in a timely manner.
• Ensures floral products are fresh and cleans the floral area.
• Takes special requests for products and counsels customers on floral care.
• Orders flowers and supplies daily as needed.
• Operates as a lead with floral clerks, training them on designs and order taking.
• Unloads trucks and replenishes merchandise.
• Adheres to company policies and reports to work on time.
